To support faculty in designing, instructing, and assessing in ways that build student competencies for sustainability, six Sustainability Faculty Fellows were appointed for a two-year term. Throughout this time, the fellows embedded teaching practices in their own courses such that students would be able to reflect, share, and act on key competencies for sustainability.

Over the last year, the Sustainability Faculty Fellows have collaborated to work on a book that acts as a resource guide that offers the lessons learned from embedding sustainability across their courses and programs. To celebrate the development of this book and showcase the great work of the fellows over their two-year term, there will be a book launch event during SDG week.

Join us for a compelling presentation on International Women's Day as we delve into the intricate relationship between climate change and its disproportionate impact on Indigenous and racialized women with guest speaker, Dr. Jebunessa Chapola.

Dr. Jebunnessa Chapola is a Saskatoon, Canada- based decolonial social justice activist, transnational cultural activist and performer, community radio host, community builder, interdisciplinary community-engaged scholar. She is trained as an anti-racist, decolonial feminist educator. She uses academics, community activism, and cross-cultural community activities to build bridges among newcomers, refugees, settlers and Indigenous communities.

Her love for community and Indigenous people grows from her own experiences. Her Ph.D. research interests include newcomer and Indigenous women’s empowerment, community building, decolonization, anti-racism, environmental justice and responsibilities for Indigenous reconciliation. She has been trying to bring her cultural activism around the community for women of colour artists into academia.

Join her as we celebrate the strength, resilience, and wisdom of Indigenous and racialized women on International Women's Day and commit to amplifying their voices, honoring their contributions, and advocating for climate justice for all.

Register to become a trained Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Multiplier. The Multiplier training enables you to be an SDG facilitator, meaning you can advocate and educate others on the SDGs with confidence. This event is open to all USask students, faculty, and staff.

Become an SDGs Multiplier

  • Reflect on which UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targets, and indicators are most important to you, personally and professionally.
  • Share how the SDGs will impact your community’s wellbeing, environmental & climate action, and sustainability.
  • Act: How will you put your understanding of sustainability and the SDGs into practice? What local or regional initiatives can you support as a career-ready global citizen?
This three-hour training will help you reflect, share, act on the SDGs. You will review the wider context of the SDGs and experience brainstorming strategies for working towards the goals. By the end of the session, you will be prepared to organize and facilitate your own SDG training workshop for others.
Space is limited. No cost to participants. Lunch is provided by the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation.
